This camera shoots 7 frames per second, which is more than enough for most shoots. Canon EOS 6D DSLR Body
The Canon 6D was my first full-frame sensor camera and the tool I used to hone my craft. This was my main squeeze when I decided to resign from my corporate job, and devote my life to my career in photography. Weighing in at only 1.5 lbs, I always have this camera packed in my bag during my travels. It’s WiFi functionality easily lets me upload photos to my phone while I am on the go. At this price point, there isn’t a better camera to take your gear to the professional level.
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Zoom Lens
The Canon 24-70 mm is the jack of all trades, and typically the lens I grab first when I reach into my bag. Whether I’m travelling or exploring my city, I know this camera will serve me in any situation. The range of 24-70 mm provides versatility when venturing out on a shoot. If I’m in a tight alleyway in Chinatown, or trying to get in close for a portrait this focal length range will satisfy my needs. Did I mention it’s also a star performer in low light conditions (thanks to that wide aperture)? If you could only buy one lens, this is the one you need
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM AutoFocus Wide Angle Telephoto Zoom
The Canon 24-105 mm is a fantastic lens for day shooting, especially when shooting from the sky. With its image stabilizer, I can count on my aerial shots to be sharp and focused no matter the level of zoom. Keep in mind though, that the aperture only stops down to f/4, so don’t count on this in low light scenarios.
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens
The Canon 16-35 mm lens was my very first wide angle lens. This lens opened up a whole new world, allowing me to squeeze in so much area into a single shot. Ordinary shots became extraordinary, and I quickly learned the purpose for shooting wide photographs. The low f/2.8 really brings the photo to life, even in low light scenarios. If you love street photography, or shooting at night you’d be hard pressed to find a lens that performs better.
Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens
The Canon 11-24 is the widest Canon lens yet. Any wider, and it would be considered “fisheye”. While this lens is a bit bulky, it provides an astounding wide frame while maintaining the integrity of the shot with limited distortion to the edges of the photograph. I keep the 16-35mm lens handy for its lighter weight and low light capabilities, so this lens serves quite a different purpose. I will never let go of the 11-24mm lens, as it provides unique perspectives that no other lens will provide.
Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM AutoFocus Wide Angle Lens – USA
The Canon 24 mm f/1.4, is a prime, or fixed lens. Although you can’t zoom in an out as the lens has a fixed focal length, it spurs creativity by forcing the operator (that’s you!) to move around in order to focus on what you want in the frame. You might be asking what benefit this lens brings to your photography. This lens’ specialty is its absolutely phenomenal performance in low light. A lens like this will give you an incredible bokeh effect to your images during the day or at night with its super low f/1.4 aperture.
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Lens, USA
The Canon 35 mm f/1.4 is very similar to the lens above, but at a slightly higher focal length. I love using this lens for taking environmental portraits, getting the subject in frame and also having some of the background present in the frame, to add a dynamic element. This lens is razor sharp and can also create a unique bokeh effect in the background of your image.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Ultra-Fast Standard AutoFocus Lens
The Canon 50mm f/1.2 is one of my favorites for shooting portraits. This prime lens provides you with a focal length that has a reputation for versatility. 50 mm is great for portraits, street photography, and even macro (but you’ll need an extension tube). With its ultra low aperture, you could get an even more pronounced bokeh in the background making your subject pop and shine in your photographs.
Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM AutoFocus Telephoto Lens – USA
The canon 85 mm f/1.2 is another prime lens that gives me a little breathing room between me and my subject. 85 mm provides me with sufficient distance between me and my subject, making them feel more comfortable with the photo shoot, rather then having an intimidating camera in their space. This is a must have lens if you strictly want to focus on taking incredible portraits, but prefer to take a few steps back.
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM AutoFocus Telephoto Zoom Lens
The Canon 70-200 is my favorite telephoto lens. When I can’t get in close to my subject, I use this lens. With its impressive long range and low f/2.8 aperture, photographs come out looking flawless; even in low light. Another facet of telephoto lenses that prove useful is the depth of field manipulation. Ever see a photo where two distant objects appear incredibly close? (i.e Statue of liberty with the empire state building right behind it) The answer is telephoto. This lens will create an altered sense of depth that can create a stunning effect.
